![]() ![]() Causes of Chronic Pain
Pain falls into two separate categories - acute pain and chronic pain. Acute pain usually goes away after a recovery period. Chronic pain can last for extended periods of time and can flare up at any time. To be classified as chronic pain the pain usually must last for at least six months. There are several prescription medications that have proven to be effective in the treatment of chronic muscle and joint pain. The most effective prescription medications are Tramadol, Fioricet, Ultracet, and Butalbital. There are also some moderately effective over-the-counter medications that have been beneficial to some patients. Low impact physical therapy treatments such as stretching, walking, and swimming have also proven to help some individuals when they are done on a regular basis. However, any type of physical therapy should be performed under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist who understands the individuals condition and knows what therapy would be the most beneficial with out causing additional damage. In many instances individuals don't even know the exact cause of their muscle and joint pain because their doctor hasn't taken the time to properly diagnosis the problem. They are usually just given a prescription and told to see if it helps. Never the less, their pain is still real and can be severe. Fibromyalgia can sometimes be linked to an injury or virus Muscle and joint pain can even be linked to an injury that caused changes in the nervous system. While the main injury has healed you can be left with chronic nerve pain. Most muscle and joint pain can be linked to arthritis. Arthritis attacks the joints in your body and causes severe chronic pain for many individuals. Another cause can be your own body's production of pain killing endorphins. If your body is not producing the proper level of these endorphins you may be more sensitive than normal to pain which can cause the pain to be more noticeable. When you first start to experience severe muscle and joint pain its best to see your physician to identify the cause. This may help you avoid making the condition worse. If you chose to just live with the pain in the hopes that it will eventually go away you may just be allowing the condition to get worse. For most suffers prescription medications are the only source of relief from their muscle and joint pain. Online pharmacies can be an excellent source for maintenance drugs to treat the symptoms of muscle and joint pain. Ordering online can save you hundreds of dollars a year in drugs costs. Just be sure to order from a reputable online pharmacy that has been in business for several years. This can be determined by looking at the bottom of the home page where it says something similar to "All Rights Reserved". There should be a date in the same area that indicates how long the website has been on the internet. You should look for three or four years minimum.
